Would it not be wonderful if the opinions of those we do not agree with could be mixed together in the same way metals can be mixed to form alloys? Often metal alloys can have far superior qualities than either one alone. Of course, often mixed metals have qualities far inferior of either metal alone. But you only tell by trying.
Just as with metals, until ideas and opinions are mixed and experimented with the result cannot be known. Yes, often compromised and mixed opinions will provide a poor result, but until they are tried, their result will never be known. But, we should make it a practice to try.
It sure worked well when the founding fathers compromised with ideas and opinions to form the United States of America.
